In celebration of Remembrance Day on the 11th November 2020, Hazel End Care Home went above and beyond to celebrate and remember those who gave their lives in the First World War.
Over the week leading up to Remembrance Day, staff spent time with our amazing residents who all had a wartime story to tell. These stories were posted on Facebook, celebrating our Hazel End Heroes, from fighting fearlessly, to loosing loved ones, and serving in the Women’s Royal Navy all our residents have a story to tell.
We would like to introduce you to some of our incredible residents starting with our special lady Jean. Jean has her very own hero, her lovely son, Adam. Trooper Adam fearlessly gave his life for Queen and Country on the 13th April 2001. Today we came together as a home to commemorate his bravery and honour his memory. Jean laid a wreath for him with pride and eternal love, we will remember him. To our lovely Jean, you are also a Hazel End Hero. Your strength and determination incredible Lest we forget.
Our second Hero is our lovely Kay. Serving in the Women’s Royal Naval Service, Kay played a crucial part in the wartime, ensuring the navy were sufficiently fed and healthy.
Finally Alec, Alec joined the Royal Air Force following his fathers footsteps at the young age of 18 years old, Alec stayed in the army for a further 2 years after the war had finished and was based in the middle east. Thank you, Alec, for your commitment and service to our Country during wartime and thank you for sharing your story with us.
The red poppy is both a symbol of remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, we at Hazel End support this message and are blown away by the incredible heroic acts of our residents, we are honoured to care for and support these wonderful Hazel End Heroes on a daily basis.
