As part of National Day of Reflection 2021, Hazel End Care Home decided to come together to reflect collectively on the past year, remembering those who had lost their lives to the COVID19 pandemic, and as a sign of hope for a better future.

For all, this week represents a year of national lockdown measures. Since the first lockdown began in 2020, hundreds of thousands of people have died. Too many lives have been cut short and millions have been bereaved.  

To pay their respects residents and staff took part in a minute’s silence, read poems, made a toast, and reflected on the year that had passed.

Residents spent sharing memories of activities and memorable days they spent together during the past year.

Hazel End’s lifestyle team also prepared video’s which were sent to family members, including a variety of videos and pictures of activities and events their loved ones had taken part in over the past year.

Alicia Bradon, Marketing and Communications Manager commented, “It was so important to spend the day reflecting and acknowledging the year that has passed. It is essential as a country we see how far we have come. The staff and residents at Hazel End have absolutely amazed me with the shear strength and determination they have all shown through an incredibly difficult time. I am so proud that the lifestyle team have provided our residents with positive memories and experiences throughout the pandemic and am excited to see what the future holds as restrictions ease”.
