This week has been wonderful, we have practiced yoga, we have exercised along to some country and western classics, we have been to the garden centre, watched the sun set from the balcony whilst sipping gin & tonics and we topped it off with a hoe down.
I’ve never been to a hoe down before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was excited to experience my first one.
We have been building up to this event all week and have enjoyed many cowboy themed activities to get us in the mood. Alongside the line dancing exercises we have enjoyed quizzes, arts and crafts and baking, we we’re even treated to a western on the big screen.
The day finally arrived, and the team went out into the garden to set up. We couldn’t help but have a peek through the windows to see what was going on. The lifestyle team shooed us away like inquisitive children on Christmas Eve, we laughed and agreed to let them have their little secrets.
The team wanted to make the day special for all of us, not only was it a chance to experience new things, to let our hair down and have fun but it was the first event this year that our families have been able to attend. You can imagine how we all felt about that.
When we were finally permitted to step outside, we were taken aback, the garden had been transformed. There were hay bales, a barbeque, there were checked tablecloths and a country and western singer but best of all there were our friends and families.
It really was a fabulous afternoon, we sang along to country songs, we wore cowboy hats and neck scarves, we danced, we ate a traditional American barbeque of wings, ribs, corn and slaw and we drank cowboy cocktails. The sun was shining, our families were by our sides, and it was wonderful.
A big thank you goes out to Sound With Us for the fantastic country and western performance and to W. King Builders for delivering the hay bales, you both helped to make this event a great success and we are very grateful.
