We have a great relationship with the local Beaver group. We always look forward to their visit, they help us with the gardening, they join in with activities, it is so much fun to have them around.
At Hazel End we have three floors and we have been looking to name each community. We decided to ask members of the community to offer suggestions and the Beavers jumped to this challenge.
This week we hosted the most wonderful event, the Beavers had not only come up with a name for our second floor, but they had had a beautiful plaque made for us. The Beavers came along accompanied by the mayor and we hosted a fabulous opening ceremony, even our newly hatched ducklings joined in.
It was a magical day, Hazel End was buzzing with activity, the sun was shining, and the halls were filled with laughter. The mayor took out the largest pair of scissors that I’ve ever seen and cut the ribbon to Beaver Burrow, it was a wonderful moment and our Beaver friends looked so proud to see their plaque hanging in pride of place.
The rest of the day was one of great celebration, we were proud to show the mayor around our wonderful home and were delighted to see how impressed he was. People can have preconceived ideas about cares homes, and we love nothing more than to shatter those preconceptions and show visitors just what an incredibly special place this is.
