We are so happy to have been able to resume our much-loved day trips. There is always lots going on within the home but, for me, nothing beats a good day out.
There are many lovely places to visit locally and a few nice pubs too. We love a walk in the park but now that the weather is turning wintery, we have less opportunity to do so. This summer we went on many nature walks and picnics but recently we have had to turn our attentions to somewhere a little warmer.
Last week we visited the Saffron Walden Museum, this museum has so much to offer. It’s many exhibits demonstrate the history of the area and give a valuable insight into the way that people have lived in rural areas and market towns in northwest Essex over the centuries. Objects in their local history exhibition include agricultural tools and horse-drawn vehicles, domestic items, toys and games, military items and an extensive collection of documents, photographs and prints.
We had a very enjoyable time walking around the museum, the staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. We learned a lot from them.
Once we had seen everything there was to see at the museum, we made the short journey to the local pub for lunch. I have missed our pub lunches, these were a regular event pre-pandemic, it felt good to be getting back to some semblance of normality. Lunch was plentiful and delicious and the perfect way to finish our little trip.
We are looking forward to visiting many other local attractions over the coming months and a few more pubs too.
